Danaos Shipping Takes Delivery of New 8,000-TEU Container Vessel – M/V Santorini Express

Safety Marine extends warm congratulations to our valued client, Danaos Shipping, on the successful delivery of their latest vessel, the M/V Santorini Express.

The vessel was delivered on 17 July 2026 by New Yangtze Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. This modern 8,000-TEU container ship is the first in a series of seven next-generation, energy-efficient vessels. Designed with optimized cargo capacity, reduced fuel consumption, and enhanced environmental performance, the Santorini Express will operate under long-term charter with Hapag-Lloyd on key international trade routes.

This delivery marks an important milestone in Danaos Shipping’s fleet expansion and strengthens their position as one of the world’s leading independent container ship owners.
